Carrie E. Dwyer heads Corporate Oversight for The Charles Schwab Corporation and Charles Schwab & Co.， Inc.， its principal operating company.
Prior to joining Schwab in 1996， Dwyer served as senior counselor to Arthur Levitt， chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. As the chairman's senior policy advisor， she was responsible for policy formulation and implementation on a number of the chairman's significant priorities， including enhanced oversight of the municipal bond markets， derivative products， the NASDAQ market and market structure.
Dwyer spent 15 years on Wall Street as senior vice president and general counsel of the American Stock Exchange， and was associated with the law firm of Milbank， Tweed， Hadley & McCloy.
Dwyer received both her bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University in 1973 and 1976， respectively. She is a member of the Bar Association in California and New York.
