Allen Gu

Allen Gu joined Candover in July 2008 to lead investments in China and to provide support to Candover’s European portfolio companies with Asian operations. He previously worked for Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia， where he evaluated and executed investments in Greater China across a broad range of sectors， including financials， manufacturing， logistics， consumer and retail. Prior to that， he worked for Goldman Sachs focusing on IPOs and M&A transactions in Greater China. Before that， he worked for IBM and Commerce One on ERP and eCommerce strategic initiatives for global corporate clients including Unilever， Carrefour， Telecom South Africa and Japan Railway East.

Recently， Allen has been has been engaged in various projects with China Investment Corporation （CIC） as a secondee in Beijing.

Based in Hong Kong， Allen is a Chinese native who grew up in Beijing and went to Tsinghua University. He holds a BSEE （with Distinction） from Purdue University and an MBA （with Fellowship） from The Anderson School of Management at UCLA.
