Michael Hui earned his bachelor and master degrees in chemistry from Oregon State University and Tulane University, respectively. He worked as a research scientist at American Home Products (now Wyeth) and went on to complete his MBA in the Stern School of Business of New York University.
Previously, Michael was vice president of Investment Banking with Softbank Investment E2 Capital, a subsidiary of the leading Japanese investment and venture firm. He was responsible for managing the Shanghai office operations as well as executing IPO, M&A and private placement contracts in China. In addition, he provided financial advisory services to companies in China, including identifying potential joint venture or collaboration partners, developing restructuring and financing strategies, and preparing strategic investment proposals. Mr. Hui is the founder of Shanghai ChemExplorer, ChemPartner and ChinaGateway. In less than four years since its inception, the company has grown into one of the leading integrated R&D service providers in China with over 1500 professional employees serving multinational clients. Michael is now the CEO of ShangPharma Co., Ltd.
