Lachmi-Niwas holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School， a Master’s degree in Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University， USA and a Bachelors degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology， Madras.
Prior to joining AXA Private Equity in 2005， he worked in the LBO team of Apax Partners， based out of London， where he was involved in the buyouts of Hansen Transmissions NV and PCM Uitgevers BV. He was also involved in formulating the firm’s strategy for Asian investments.
Prior to Apax， he was a Vice President with the Asian direct investment team of GIC Special Investments， Singapore. Before that， he was the founding CEO of Innovation Associates Pte Ltd， a premier business incubator， based out of Singapore. He started his career as a management consultant with Arthur D. Little， Inc.， where he led assignments for clients across North America and Asia Pacific.
